The Steering Group and Group Leads

PCSR’s steering group is currently made up of seven PCSR members who have agreed to help PCSR run on a day to day basis. There are three defined roles: the Chair,  and the Treasurer/Membership Secretary, and the Editor of the in-house Transformations publication (the roles of chair and secretary have been created to satisfy the conditions of the Natwest Bank account.) Between them, the steering group run the organisation, plan and host events, contribute to Transformations, circulate subjects/petitions of interest to the PCSR membership. Steering group members also support members to write campaigning letters about topical themes to therapy journals and the national press etc.

The Steering Group
The way the Steering Group functions is always evolving. At the moment, we meet face-to-face every 6-8 weeks in London, and communicate by email between meetings. Occasionally, if it’s impossible to meet in person we will have a skype meeting, but find face-to-face meetings much more productive. We aim to make decisions by consensus – see ‘consensus’ section.

The Steering Group encourages and supports the building of new regional groups and offers financial assistance for booking rooms when necessary. A representative from each regional group will attend and feed into the AGM which is currently held in London.

In return for their work on the steering group, its members are able to attend events free of charge and,PCSR income permitting, have their travel expenses refunded for events and PCSR steering group meetings.

As well as the Steering Group, individual members of PCSR have volunteered to lead local or special interest groups

New members are welcome to put themselves forward to join the steering group at the Annual General Meeting. It tends to be useful if new steering group members have participated in a few PCSR events previously, or they are known by another PCSR member, so that they know the ethos of PCSR before joining the steering group.
